September 5th Meeting: Charme Knight, Candidate for District Attorney General

Charme Knight is the Chief of the Child Abuse Unit in the Sixth Judicial
District Attorney General's Office encompassing Knox County, TN. She obtained
her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from West Georgia College in 1987,
and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Tennessee in 1990. She
began her career in public service in 1989 during law school where she sought
and obtained a student clerkship at the District Attorney's office under then
District Attorney Ed Dossett. Charme's career evolved from that clerkship
position into a full-time role as an Assistant District Attorney, where she
remains today. Throughout her career, Charme has handled nearly every type and
class of criminal case from First Degree Murder to traffic offenses. She is
currently the Chief prosecutor in the Child Abuse Unit, and is a lead trial
attorney on cases involving child molestation and abuse.
Charme is running for the position of District Attorney
General in 2014. She has been campaigning since the fall of last
year.
